It’s a Pool. Inside a Church.
Dutch architecture studio MVRDV revealed their design for an adaptive reuse project of a church which implements a community swimming pool within it in the Netherlands.
Though some might find this odd and perhaps even confronting, I think it is a great example of the level of adaptive reuse that we need to see in the architectural world.
When you take carbon emission considerations and the life-cycle of many structures in our urban environments into consideration this is yet another example of the design solutions which are required going forward.
Adapt, not demolish and rebuild.
