I’ve spent countless hours trawling through Instagram reels. Though it’s mostly sad, it has yielded some interesting and beautiful finds in the worlds of the art & design which I thought might be interesting to share via a blog post.
Design
Artificial Intelligence but Grimy
I’ve come across a couple of profiles that play around with AI while presenting a more unique aesthetic that is more closely aligned with underground rap, à la Chief Keef, and PC music culture, think 100 gecs.
They don’t try to be overly polished or cinematic but rather lean in into the grainy footage, medium to low-quality resolution while still maintaining a convincing level of realism about them.
Now Make it Ghoulish and Absurd
The next subgenre of AI videos is that of absurdism or ghoulish creature that blend a found-footage style with the fantastical.
